The 7 Main Chakras

The 7 Main Chakras

Chakras are various focal points in the body that provide subtle energy to help your organs, mind, and intellect work at their best levels.

The word "Chakra" is a sanskrit word that means wheel or cycle.

Chakras are often visualized as spinning discs of energy that should stay open and stay balanced to ensure harmony throughout the body.

There are 7 main chakras that run from the base of your spine to the crown of your head:

Root Chakra:

This is the first chakra and is located at the base of your spine. It is associated with the color RED and the element EARTH. This chakra represents security, stability, indepedence, and strength. When this chakra is blocked, you may experience feelings of deep fear and insecurity.

Sacral Chakra:

This is the second chakra and is located below the navel. It is associated with the color ORANGE and the element WATER. This chakra is the center of our creativity, sexuality, intuitiveness, and adaptability. When this chakra is blocked, it can cause emotional outbursts, feelings of emotional isolation, repressed creativity, and sexual dysfunction.

Solar Plexus Chakra:

This is the third chakra and is located between the rib cage and navel. It is associated with the color YELLOW and the element FIRE. This chakra represents self-esteem, pleasure, personal responsibility, and will-power. When this chakra is blocked, you may experience low self-esteem, control issues, misuse of power, and depression.

Heart Chakra:

This is the fourth chakra and is located in the center of the chest - near the heart! It is associated with the color GREEN and the element AIR. This chakra represents self-love, compassion, love, and trust. When this chakra is blocked or out of balance, it can cause anger, lack of trust, anxiety, jealousy, and feelings of poor self-worth.

Throat Chakra:

This is the fifth chakra and is located at the center of the neck. It is associated with the color BLUE and the element ETHER. This chakra represents self-expression, communication, and confidence. When this chakra is blocked, it can cause shyness, the desire to be withdrawn, feelings of arrogance, and increased anxiety.

Third Eye Chakra:

This is the sixth chakra and is located at the center of the forehead between the eyebrows. It is associated with the color INDIGO and has no elemental association. This chakra is believed to control your intellect, spiritual power, wisdom, and intuition. An open and balanced third eye chakra is said to allow one to notice connections between worlds. When this chakra is blocked, it can cause lack of direction and lack of clarity, as well as physical ailments like headaches and blurry vision.

Crown Chakra:

This is the seventh chakra and is located at the top of the head. It is associated with the color VIOLET or WHITE and does not have an elemental association. This chakra is the most spiritual of the central chakras is believed to connect a person to their higher self. It represents inner wisdom, states of higher consciousness, and divine connection. When this chakra is blocked, it can cause feelings of cynicism, closed mindedness, and a disconnection with spirit and inner self.

Sometimes we need a little assistance in opening up and re-balancing our chakra energy. Every crystal is linked to one or more of the chakras and can help in this process. When choosing a crystal, some use their intuition and select the ones they are drawn to the most. Others select a crystal based on what chakra it is connected with. The energy from those crystals can then be used to re-balance the energy of the chakra it’s linked to.

When using crystals as a way to re-balance your chakras, it is important to cleanse and recharge your crystals beforehand!

Using some sage, saltwater, or even just putting your crystals in the sunlight or moonlight for a few hours will give your crystals the refresh they need to help your chakras re-balance.
